Licensed Clinician I – Substance Use Disorder Location: Chesapeake, VA Work Schedule: Monday – Friday, 8am-5pm with one late day a week and 1 hour lunch. Employees may be expected to work overtime in response to short‑term department needs or emergencies. Pay: Starting range $68,703 – $101,210 per year; actual starting salary depends on education, experience, and credentials. Pay basis Semi‑Monthly. Position Overview: The Chesapeake Integrated Behavioral Healthcare (CIBH) seeks an Outpatient Substance Use Disorder licensed clinician to provide individual and group counseling, psychotherapy, and crisis intervention to a caseload of adult individuals with a wide range of mental health, substance use and co‑occurring disorders. In collaboration with integrated teams and external partners, the clinician will develop and implement person‑centered, recovery‑oriented treatment plans and coordinate additional services. Responsibilities Conduct comprehensive substance use and behavioral health assessments. Develop individualized, person‑centered treatment plans that support recovery goals and measurable outcomes. Provide individual, group, and family counseling utilizing evidence‑based modalities. Facilitate psycho‑educational and process groups focused on relapse prevention, recovery skills, coping strategies, and wellness. Utilize evidence‑based practices such as Motivational Interviewing, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical Behavior Therapy, and trauma‑informed approaches. Coordinate care with psychiatrists, nurses, peer recovery specialists, case managers, primary care providers, and community partners. Complete crisis assessments, safety planning, and referrals to higher or lower levels of care when clinically appropriate. Maintain timely, accurate clinical documentation in accordance with Medicaid, DBHDS, 42 CFR Part 2, HIPAA, and agency standards. Participate in interdisciplinary treatment team meetings, case consultation, and quality improvement initiatives. Promote a recovery‑oriented environment that emphasizes hope, dignity, self‑determination, and long‑term wellness. Required Qualifications Master’s degree in psychology, social work, counseling, or closely related field, or other approved degree. Minimum of two years of related, full‑time equivalent experience. State of Virginia licensure as Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), Professional Counselor (LPC), or Clinical Psychologist (LCP). Licensure as LMFT, Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner, Psychiatric Clinical Nurse Specialist MD/DO, or RN with five years of experience may be considered in the Emergency Services Program. Pre‑screening certification within 6 weeks of employment (12 weeks for part‑time staff) may be required for the Emergency Services Program. Valid driver’s license with driving record acceptable to City’s Driving Standards if required for the position. Preferred Qualifications Experience providing treatment for substance use disorders in an outpatient or community behavioral health setting. Experience treating individuals with co‑occurring mental health and substance use disorders. Experience facilitating therapeutic groups. Knowledge of recovery‑oriented systems of care and medication‑assisted treatment (MAT/MOUD). Familiarity with ASAM Criteria, stages of change, relapse prevention, and harm reduction principles.
