Job Summary

We are seeking an Ophthalmic Technician/Tech Trainee to join our team! As an Ophthalmic Technician, you will be responsible for conducting the initial assessment of a patient.

• Perform preliminary vision and ophthalmic testing.
• Measure visual acuity, pupils, and intraocular pressure.
• Perform testing such as OCT, visual fields, and other diagnostic procedures as trained.
• Prepare patients for examinations and assist physicians during clinic visits and procedures.
• Administer eye drops and medications as directed and within the scope of training/authorization.
• Accurately document patient information in the electronic medical record.
• Educate patients regarding testing, medications, and basic eye-care instructions.
• Maintain examination rooms, equipment, and supplies.
• Pediatric ophthalmology or pediatric healthcare experience is a plus.

Responsibilities 

• Greet patients and gather medical history and relevant information for their visit
• Conduct an initial assessment of the patient and record all findings
• Assist in in-office procedures, as needed
• Educate patients on best practice and eye health
• Maintain a clean, organized workspace at all times

Qualifications

Ophthalmic Technician:

• Previous ophthalmology or ophthalmic technician experience preferred.
• COA, COT, or related certification is a plus.
• Experience with ophthalmic diagnostic equipment preferred.
• Strong communication, organizational, and patient-care skills.

Technician Trainee:

• Previous healthcare, medical office, or patient-care experience is helpful but not required.
• Willingness to learn ophthalmic testing and clinical procedures.
• Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
• Professional, dependable, and compassionate approach to patient care.
