Some overtime, evening, weekends, and holidays possible.PurposeProvide advanced level work associated with pneumatic and electronic instrumentation and control systems to ensure efficient and effective control of building operational processes.ResponsibilitiesTroubleshoots and resolves issues with electronic and pneumatic controls systems and components to maintain HVAC comfort control in university buildings. (30%)Leads work teams across multiple maintenance disciplines to resolve complex technical control system problems. (15%)Performs preventive maintenance and calibrates electronic and pneumatic controls and sensors to prevent failures and to keep the building HVAC equipment operating at optimum performance for maximum energy conservation. (15%)Renovates and upgrades control systems to provide efficient operation of HVAC equipment and improve building comfort. (15%)Assists other shops and team members in the accomplishment of shop goals related to key performance indicators. Assist outside entities. Provides timely and courteous customer service, keeps supervisors up to date on daily work order status to ensure clear, concise and necessary communication channels are maintained and customer expectations are met. (10%)Researches and recommends repair components and test equipment to assist in procuring components. Creates material lists and acquires materials for efficient work. Keeps accurate records of materials used and maintains daily time reports to efficiently complete work and document details of the functions performed. Keeps accurate and up to date documentation of all systems. (5%)Gathers building HVAC and mechanical field data to facilitate analysis and improvement of HVAC performance. Five years of journey-level experience with the installation, repair, maintenance and operation of pneumatic and DDC instrumentation and control systems. Equivalent combination of relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate. Demonstrated excellent communication skills. Demonstrated ability to follow written and verbal instructions.Relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.Preferred QualificationsAssociates degree in a technical field. More than five years of journey level experience with the installation, repair, maintenance and operation of pneumatic and DDC instrumentation and control systems. Prior supervisory experience. National Institute for Certification in Engineering Technologies (NICET) Level II certification in Industrial Instrumentation or higher NICET Level certification in Industrial Instrumentation. Associated Air Balance Council, or other nationally recognized agency, Test and Balance Technician. Experience at the University of Texas or in a university setting. Demonstrated ability to adhere to safety rules and regulations. Demonstrated ability to handle responses. Demonstrated ability to give a verbal sequence to a response. Demonstrated ability to work well within a team environment.
