Bookkeeper  

The primary responsibility of the  Bookkeeper is to maintain accurate financial records and provide administrative support for the daily operations of Cwikla Ace Hardware. This position is responsible for recording and reconciling financial transactions, processing invoices and payments, maintaining accurate records, and assisting with general office and bookkeeping functions. 

Major Responsibilities  

The major responsibilities for this position include: 

• Post and maintain accurate journal entries. 
• Reconcile bank statements and investigate discrepancies. 
• Reconcile the general ledger to inventory records. 
• Verify and balance daily receipts. 
• Review and reconcile cash transactions with company records. 
• Manage and reconcile bank card/credit card recaps. 
• Process and enter vendor invoices. 
• Review invoices for accuracy and proper documentation. 
• Claim and process credits for shortages, damaged merchandise, and defective products. 
• Post customer payments accurately and in a timely manner. 
• Prepare daily bank deposits. 
• Reconcile purchase orders with invoices and receiving records. 
• Process payroll and post payroll transactions. 
• Review cashiers' records and reconcile cashier balances as necessary. 
• Maintain organized bookkeeping files and financial documentation. 
• Assist with general office and administrative duties as needed. 
• Communicate with vendors, customers, and staff regarding billing, payments, credits, and account discrepancies. 
• Maintain confidentiality of company financial and employee information. 
• Backup Cashier when needed.
• Perform other bookkeeping and office duties as assigned based on the needs of the business. 

• Minimum Requirements  
• Education/Training: High school diploma or equivalent; some college or accounting coursework preferred . 
• Working knowledge of basic accounting and bookkeeping principles. 
• Previous experience in retail, accounting, bookkeeping, office administration, or a similar environment preferred. 
• Strong quantitative, analytical, and mathematical skills. 
• Excellent computer skills and the ability to learn company-specific retail and accounting systems. 
• Working knowledge of  Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Word, or other spreadsheet/accounting software . 
• Exceptional organizational skills and strong attention to detail. 
• Ability to accurately handle confidential financial information. 
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. 
• Ability to prioritize tasks, meet deadlines, and effectively multitask. 
• Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to make sound decisions. 
• Ability and willingness to learn new procedures, software, and systems. 
• Ability and willingness to work flexible hours, including occasional evenings, weekends, or holidays, as needed by the business. 

PHYSICAL AND WORK REQUIREMENTS

• Ability to operate a personal computer, calculator, telephone, and other standard office equipment. 
• Ability to sit, concentrate, and work accurately for extended periods of time. 
• Ability to handle paperwork, files, invoices, and other office materials. 
• Ability to maintain accuracy and attention to detail in a busy retail environment. 
• Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of the Cwikla Ace Hardware team.
