About the Role
The Company is in search of a VP, Head of Research and Vector Development to lead the early project pipeline and spearhead the development of the next generation of transgene delivery vehicles. The successful candidate will be responsible for the initiation and leadership of projects, particularly those focused on the development of novel AAV capsids, and ensuring that the research and vector engineering efforts are in line with corporate objectives. This role involves close collaboration with an experienced team of scientists, driving technological innovations, and maintaining a high standard of data integrity. The VP will also play a key role in driving external collaborations to enhance the company's position in gene therapy and will be part of the Research Leadership Team, contributing to the research strategy and the development of advanced genetic therapies. Applicants for the VP, Head of Research and Vector Development position at the company should hold a PhD or MD/PhD in a relevant scientific discipline and have at least 10 years of experience in therapeutic drug development, with a focus on neuroscience and virology being advantageous. The role requires a highly motivated individual with a proactive and solution-driven attitude, capable of providing scientific and strategic leadership to a team of scientists. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record in leading and mentoring scientific teams, as well as a strong background in molecular biology, gene therapy, virology, or biochemistry. Strong communication and interpersonal skills are essential, as is the ability to lead innovation and manage activities in a global matrix organization.
