Adjunct Machine Tool Instructor

Position Summary Lawson State Community College is accepting applications for part‑time/adjunct faculty for all subjects. Individuals will be hired as needed. Submitted applications remain on file for 36 months. Under general supervision, the faculty member will prepare and deliver instruction for credited academic and technical courses at Lawson State at the freshman and sophomore levels and perform duties associated with institutional effectiveness. Responsibilities Instruction: Adhere to learning management system requirements, including posting syllabi, announcements, calendars, and assignments. Teach from current course syllabi and training plans, supplementing with multimedia materials. Demonstrate safe use of equipment and integrate safety, health, and fire‑prevention into instruction. Maintain a conducive learning environment and supervise students, ensuring discipline in class, lab, and shop. Develop laboratory projects that connect theory with practical application. Distribute current syllabi each term, outlining objectives, outline, evaluation methods, schedule, rules, and required materials. Administer written and performance examinations and record student progress systematically. Communicate progress and submit absence plans to the department chair and administrators. Respond to student requests within 24‑48 hours and supervise cooperative educational settings when applicable. Recordkeeping: Maintain accurate attendance and permanent roll records. Submit attendance reports on time. Follow state and institutional grading systems and submit grades each term by the due date. Provide required documentation to the registrar for status changes and graduate‑related submissions. Enforcement of College Policies: Participate in departmental orientation and communicate announcements as directed. Follow institutional and system policies, procedures, and guidelines. Adhere to FERPA regulations and report violations. Adhere to ADA accommodation requirements when documentation is provided. Qualifications Minimum of an Associate's degree or equivalent in the teaching discipline. At least three (3) years of successful full‑time experience as a practitioner in the field. For certain technical disciplines (e.g., Cosmetology, Culinary Arts, Welding, Pharmacy Technician), a current license or certification may be required.
