About the Position

Job Title: RN - Medical/Surgical/Telemetry Profession: Registered Nurse Specialty: MedSurg/Tele Duration: 5 months Shift: Night Shift Hours per Shift: 12 hours Experience: Minimum 2 years Med/Tele RN experience required License: Required Certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS Must-Have: General Med/Tele skillset, including stroke experience, cardiac rhythm interpretation, trach care, PIV starts, chest tube management, NGT placement, and drain/tube management. Experience with PCA pump and medication management, including cardiac drips, heparin, blood products, and IV fluids. Description: This position is for a registered nurse in the Medical/Surgical/Telemetry specialty. The facility has 874 licensed beds and is a teaching hospital. It is designated as a Level I Trauma Center, Chest Pain Center, and Stroke Center. The unit consists of 36 beds. The patient population includes those with sepsis, respiratory illnesses, GI disorders, infections, liver failure, and acute kidney injury/chronic kidney disease. The typical patient-to-nurse ratio is 1:5-6, depending on patient acuity. Surge staffing may increase ratios to 1:7-8. Certified nursing assistants are available with a ratio of 1:9. Support within the department includes charge nurses, phlebotomy, and respiratory therapy available 24/7. Nurses will monitor telemetry without technician support. Floating may be required within the region and scope of practice as per facility needs. Evening and weekend shifts will be required, with a rotation every other weekend. Travelers are expected to work 75% of holidays and can request time off, subject to approval. Nurses will receive free parking and are expected to wear navy scrubs.
