This is a Senior Attorney position in our District 6 Chief Counsel’s office. The position is responsible for providing legal counsel and representation of the Department in all phases of the acquisition of right-of-way for transportation facilities, including research, the preparation of pleadings, discovery, preparation of witnesses, hearings, settlement negotiations, and trial. The position also prepares real estate conveyance documents and provides representation in the defense of the Department in claims of inverse condemnation, as assigned.THE DIFFERENCE YOU WILL MAKE

You are part of the Office of the General Counsel statewide team and will work in our District 6 Chief Counsel’s office located at 1000 NW 111th Avenue, Miami, FL 33172.ANNUAL SALARY RANGE
$85,000.00 - $95,000.00YOUR SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES
Provide legal counsel and representation of the Department in all phases of the acquisition of right-of-way for transportation facilities. Represent the Department in all phases of eminent domain proceedings, including research, preparation of pleadings, discovery, witness preparation, hearings, settlement negotiations, and trial. Prepare real estate conveyance documents. Represent the Department in defense of claims of inverse condemnation, as assigned. Research all state and federal statutes, court cases, rules, and regulations affecting the right-of-way acquisition operations of the Department. Advise the right-of-way offices that the attorney is assigned to work with of their legal powers and duties, how the law affects their operations, and the implementation of policies and rules. Provide support to Department attorneys representing the Department in claims and litigation against and by the Department. Assist with responding to public records requests and subpoenas, as assigned. THE SUCCESSFUL CANDIDATE WILL HAVE THE FOLLOWING REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIESKNOWLEDGE OF
Litigation and civil rules of procedure and practice and Government in the Sunshine Law. The principles and techniques of effective verbal and written communications.ABILITY TO
Understand and apply applicable rules, regulations, policies, and procedures. Utilize problem solving techniques. Work independently. Plan, organize, and coordinate work assignments. Communicate effectively orally and in writing. Establish and maintain effective working relationships with others.
