You'll lead with purpose, breaking down barriers to innovation for a more connected, compassionate world.# **About the Role**The Senior Director, Corporate Communications & Media Relations is responsible for shaping and protecting the company’s reputation across external and internal audiences. Reporting to the Chief Marketing Officer, this leader will develop and execute an integrated communications strategy that elevates the corporate brand, supports commercial growth, strengthens employee engagement, and positions the company as the global leader in diabetes technology.This role requires an experienced communications executive who can seamlessly move between executive strategy, product communications, crisis management, corporate storytelling, and hands-on media engagement. The ideal candidate combines exceptional strategic judgment with flawless execution and thrives in a fast-paced, highly regulated healthcare environment.**Key Responsibilities**Corporate Reputation & Executive Communications* Develop and execute a comprehensive corporate communications strategy aligned with business priorities.* Build and protect the company’s reputation among patients, healthcare professionals, investors, employees, policymakers, and industry influencers.* Partner closely with executive leadership to shape key corporate narratives and messaging.* Develop executive thought leadership platforms, speaking opportunities, bylined articles, and strategic communications.* Lead communications for significant corporate milestones, business announcements, partnerships, and strategic initiatives.Media Relations* Build and maintain strong relationships with top-tier business, healthcare, technology, and consumer media.* Develop proactive media strategies that generate high-impact earned media coverage.* Serve as the company’s communications lead for media inquiries and interview preparation.* Anticipate emerging issues and develop communications strategies that protect and enhance the company’s reputation.* Measure media impact and continuously optimize communications programs.Product Communications* Lead integrated public relations strategies for product launches, regulatory milestones, clinical data announcements, partnerships, and innovation storytelling.* Collaborate closely with Product Marketing, Commercial, Medical Affairs, Clinical, and Regulatory teams to ensure accurate, compelling communications.* Translate complex scientific and technical information into engaging stories for multiple audiences.* Support global communications planning across key markets.Employee Communications & Engagement* Develop internal communications strategies that keep employees informed, inspired, and connected to company priorities.* Create executive communications for town halls, organizational announcements, and major company initiatives.* Partner with HR and leadership to strengthen employee engagement and reinforce company culture.* Lead communications supporting organizational change and transformation initiatives.Issues & Crisis Communications* Develop crisis communications plans, messaging frameworks, and response protocols.* Lead cross-functional communications during issues requiring rapid, coordinated responses.* Monitor reputational risks and provide strategic counsel to executive leadership.* Conduct scenario planning and media training for senior executives.Communications Leadership* Lead and develop a high-performing communications team and agency partners.* Manage external PR agencies and communications budgets.* Establish communications KPIs and regularly measure program effectiveness.* Foster strong cross-functional partnerships across Marketing, Commercial, Clinical, Regulatory, Legal, Investor Relations, Human Resources, and Executive Leadership.**Must Have Minimum Qualifications***To be considered for this role, please ensure the minimum requirements are evident on your resume.** Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Journalism, Public Relations, Marketing, or related field and 15+ years of progressive communications experience, including significant experience in healthcare, medical technology, pharmaceuticals, or other highly regulated industries.* 10+ years managerial experienceOR* Advanced Degree in Communications, Journalism, Public Relations, Marketing, or related field and 13+ years of progressive communications experience, including significant experience in healthcare, medical technology, pharmaceuticals, or other highly regulated industries.* 10+ years managerial experience**Preferred Qualifications:*** Deep experience developing and executing media relations strategies with measurable business impact, supported by strong journalist relationships.* Trusted advisor to executive leadership and Boards of Directors, with exceptional executive presence and communication skills.* Proven leader in crisis and sensitive issue management, remaining calm and effective during high-visibility situations.* Strategic storyteller who translates complex topics into compelling narratives across traditional, digital, social, and integrated communications channels.* Equally comfortable developing long-term communications strategy and executing tactical initiatives.* Experience supporting product launches, corporate milestones, and communications for publicly traded companies and IPOs.* Experience leading communications teams and external agency partners.* Global communications experience across multiple markets.* Familiarity with FDA-regulated communications and healthcare policy.* Collaborative and influential leader who drives cross-functional alignment without direct authority.* Passionate about improving the lives of people living with PR) locations (USD):$178,000.00 - $302,000.00For roles located in California, Seattle WA, Washington DC, Boston MA, and New York City, the salary range is $198,000.00 - $336,000.00 USD.Actual compensation may vary based on factors including experience, education, certifications, skills, market conditions, internal equity, and geographic location. Compensation and benefits information pertains solely to candidates hired within the United States (local market compensation and benefits will apply for others).This position is eligible for a short-term incentive called the Short Term Incentive (STI).This position is eligible for an annual long-term incentive plan.At MiniMed, we are committed to supporting the well-being and financial security of our employees.
