Dental Assistant I/II – School of Dentistry (Bellaire Clinic) UTHealth Houston's School of Dentistry is seeking a Dental Assistant I/II to join our team at the Bellaire Clinic located at 6500 W Loop S, Suite 200-A, Bellaire, TX 77401. The Dental Assistant will provide chairside support to dental providers, prepare and sterilize instruments, assist with patient care, maintain accurate records, and help ensure efficient clinic operations. Position Summary Perform routine tasks assisting the professional dental staff and students in the examination and prophylactic, therapeutic and surgical treatment of patients. Works under direct supervision. Position Key Accountabilities Assists in the teaching of dental students, dental assisting students, and dental hygiene students in the principles of four-handed dentistry and dental assistant utilization (DAU). Provides chair side assistance to students and faculty. Maintains sterile, and prepares equipment, instruments, and supplies within working area. Maintains infection control standards. Maintains records of patients seen, procedures performed, materials used, and appointments. Must be able to respond to emergency situations. Performs other duties as assigned. Certification/Skills Basic office or computer skills. Manages Human Resources activities of department in regards to: recruiting and selection, hiring and termination, training, professional development, mentoring, counseling, performance evaluations, and salary planning. Dental Assistant by Texas State Board of Dental Examiners (TSBDE) required Minimum Education High School Diploma or equivalent required Completion of a recognized dental assistant educational program preferred Minimum Experience None Physical Requirements Exerts up to 50 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 20 pounds frequently and/or up to 10 pounds constantly to move objects.
