Engineering Associate

Engineering Associate Employee will conduct engineering studies, prepare designs related to the construction, operation, and maintenance of public infrastructure, and perform development reviews for code conformance. Responsibilities Under the guidance of a Registered Professional Engineer, designing Public Works infrastructure projects Reviewing construction plans for compliance with codes, regulations, and standards; reviews adequacy of various permit applications Using a variety of software applications, performs water, wastewater, drainage, and traffic modeling to determine the impact of development on these systems Conducting inspections and materials research and testing Evaluating deliverables from consultants, contractors, manufacturers, and vendors, including reviewing plans and specifications Providing oversight of Public Works infrastructure construction projects Responding to public or other inquiries relative to engineering policies and procedures Assisting in the preparation and maintenance of various material and construction cost databases Work Environment Occasionally work near moving mechanical parts, in high and precarious places, fumes, airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, risk of electrical shock, and vibration Benefits Health insurance from Blue Cross Blue Shield of TX Dental and Vision insurance Life insurance Retirement through TMRS (Optional 4579(b) Accounts) Paid Vacation and Sick Leave 13 paid holidays Wellness Events & Free Gym Membership Education and Experience Graduation from a four (4) year college or university with a degree in civil engineering or a closely related field One (1) year of experience in engineering design and construction, or related fields is preferred Special Requirements Must have a valid Texas driver’s license within ninety (90) days of hire Must have a valid driver’s license by date-of-hire Physically be capable of moving about on construction work sites and under adverse field conditions.
