Take the next step in your career with us! Position Specific Description This is a wind technician III on site position at Golden Hills Wind in Livermore, CA. Join the world’s leading generator of renewable energy as a Wind Technician at NextEra Energy. As a Wind Technician you will be on the critical front-line to ensure the safe and optimal performance of all wind farm site operations. You will primarily focus on the safe execution of field-based equipment maintenance and diagnostics, as well as the long-term reliability and profitability of the equipment. Additional duties may include: Executing Safety Management System procedures and instructions Conducting field work in compliance with OSHA applicable regulations, encouraging good employee safety practices, and driving an unparalleled employee safety culture Working outdoors and at heights inside and outside of the elements Troubleshoot and maintain electrical components such as relays, breakers, contactors, cards and other hardware Troubleshoot and maintain mechanical components such as motors, gear drives and other mechanical systems Perform routine annual preventative maintenance of wind turbine components Operate the tablet provided to each technician Collaborate closely with internal NextEra users to develop and implement operation focused feedback and solutions for planned and unplanned maintenance, improvement projects, development, and financial performance Recruit and develop other technicians for the ongoing development of the team Support site manager for all phases of timely safety and environmental reporting, maintenance, financial reporting, and turbine availability Present a positive professional representation of NextEra Energy in the community and with the customer Participate in Business Lean Six Sigma processes and projects Active participation in the career development and Partners in Performance programs driving the annual merit & incentives rewards Join NextEra Energy’s Power Generation Team. Job Duties & Responsibilities Performs regular preventative maintenance and repair on wind turbine power generation equipment Completes electrical, electronic, and mechanical troubleshooting Maintains all company supplied equipment, facilities and tooling Applies basic understanding of the technical and process functions Manages own training schedules and meets all training requirements within designated time frames Able to meet attendance requirements Performs other job-related duties as assigned Required Qualifications High School Grad / GED Experience: 0+ years Valid Driver's License (NON CDL) Ability to climb a wind turbine up to 300 feet Post-Offer Functional Capacity Eval Preferred Qualifications Associate’s Degree The estimated base pay for this position is $51,200.00 to $76,800.00 per year. Starting pay will be based on several factors including, but not limited to, experience, qualifications, job-related and industry knowledge and skills and education/training.
