Registered Nurse

The role involves working in a busy neurology rehabilitation setting with a focus on patient-centered care. The unit consists of 52 beds and serves a high percentage of neuro patients, including those recovering from TBI, brain tumor resection, and CVA. Nurses must be comfortable with high levels of communication and personal engagement with patients and families. The average length of stay for patients is 19-21 days, with therapy provided five days a week for three hours each day. Nurse-to-patient ratios are typically RN 1:6 and Tech 1:8. Charge nurses will have a reduced assignment based on patient census, and an interdisciplinary team conducts daily rounds. Nurses will be responsible for acute Med Surg care, including IV therapy and wound care. Common duties include Foley catheter insertion and central line dressing changes. Training and competency in maintaining a sterile field are essential, with expectations set for passing skills evaluations. Due to the nature of the environment, flexibility to float to other Med Surg units may be required. Weekend shifts will need to be completed as part of the core rotation, with four shifts in an eight-week period. Holidays will also be worked into the normal rotation based on unit needs. All team members must adhere to established policies, ensuring a safe and respectful workplace.
