Alterations Specialist

Job Overview Alterations Specialists are responsible for completing all fittings and alterations to the high standards of David’s Bridal and report to the Store Manager. They exemplify friendly, knowledgeable, and technical expertise and provide superior customer service. As a member of the store team, they represent the David’s Bridal brand. Essential Job Functions Welcome all customers with genuine, friendly enthusiasm over the phone, virtual chats, and in person, communicating clearly and concisely while adapting style to suit customers. Use all systems to manage customer flow and deliver a five‑star customer experience. Maintain all service levels by being prepared, welcoming, and meeting customers’ needs, including operational checklist tasks and emotional support. Provide an exceptional service experience to multiple customers at one time and contribute to the store’s achievement of Five‑Star Customer Service. Proactively address customer concerns with confidence, escalating and partnering with leadership when appropriate. Communicate how alterations play an important role in perfecting the dress for the event, promoting all alteration services and personalization options. Assist stylists in closing sales by consulting customers regarding gown fit and customization. Maintain store standards to support a flawless shopping experience. Adhere to the Dress Code Policy and maintain a high standard of personal appearance. Greets and escorts all alteration customers to and from appointments. Inspect all garments altered, steamed, or pressed to verify pristine condition before final delivery to the customer. Respond promptly to all customer questions by providing product and service information. Build long‑term relationships with customers to exceed satisfaction and loyalty. Manage inventory by processing special orders, pick‑ups, and ensuring first‑quality standards for all merchandise. Ensure alteration pricing complies with company standards. Manage all alterations, fittings, sewing, steaming, pressing, and spot cleaning of garments to company standards. Resolve customer service issues swiftly and effectively in accordance with company guidelines. Support all cash wrap behaviors and process transactions with accuracy to celebrate every customer. Maintain the alterations room so that it is consistently clean and well‑organized. Perform duties and tasks as assigned by store management. Physical Demands Employees will occasionally stand, walk, and sit for extended periods, reach for tools, climb stairs, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. They must be able to bend, twist, and lift up to 10 pounds, and endure manual dexterity tasks such as using POS terminals, steaming garments, and operating computers. The job requires adequate vision and the ability to work for long periods on electronic devices. Education & Credentials High school diploma or equivalent. 1‑2 years of prior retail experience in an apparel or specialty store. Prior sewing experience required, preferably in a bridal or special‑occasion production environment. Experience with computerized POS systems is a plus.
