Responsibilities Prepare architectural sketches and study models. Assist in contract administration and quality assurance inspection of construction projects. Assist in the analysis of problems based on field investigations or studies of construction and design conditions, and recommend the most feasible and economical methods of solution. Review architectural shop drawings for accuracy, completeness and compliance with contract specifications. Assist in proposing methods for repairing, restoring, and improving existing facilities. Requirements Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation. Must sign a mobility agreement if selected. Must sign an Army Fellows Participant Agreement if selected. Male applicants born after December 31, 1959, must complete a Pre‑Employment Certification Statement for Selective Service Registration. A Personnel Security Investigation is required. Qualifications Basic Requirement for Architect: Degree: Bachelor’s degree (or higher) in architecture or a related field that includes 60 semester hours of course work in architecture or related disciplines, with at least 30 semester hours in architectural design and 6 semester hours each in structural technology, properties of materials and methods of construction, and environmental control systems. Degree must be completed by June 2026. Combination of Education and Experience: College‑level education, training, and/or technical experience providing: A thorough knowledge of the arts and sciences underlying professional architecture. A good understanding of architectural principles, methods, and techniques for design and construction or improvement of buildings. Adequacy demonstrated by: Related curriculum: Degree in architectural engineering providing equivalent coursework. Experience: One year of experience in an architect’s office or in architectural work for each year short of graduation; a minimum of 5 years in absence of college courses. One year of specialized experience in: Preparing architectural sketches and study models; or Reviewing architectural shop drawings for accuracy and compliance; or Assisting in analysis of problems and recommending solutions. Educational pathways: One full year of graduate‑level education (or completion by June 2026) in a relevant field such as Architecture. Superior Academic Achievement: Successful completion of a bachelor’s degree with superior academic achievement, defined by class standing (upper third), GPA (≥3.0), or honor society membership. Five‑year Architecture Program: Completion of a program of at least 160 semester hours leading to a bachelor’s degree in Architecture. Foreign Education: Credentials must be evaluated by a private organization or credited by a U.S. accredited institution to be deemed equivalent.
