Staff Software Engineer, Security

Staff-level security engineer to drive architectural initiatives for identity management, authentication, and AI infrastructure security. Lead technical vision, establish best practices across microservices architecture, and mentor engineering teams at a precision medicine platform.

Responsibilities

• Lead technical decisions for security engineering team and implement identity management and authorization systems
• Manage security microservices, frameworks, and tooling; identify gaps and implement emerging standards
• Establish internal security standards across microservice architecture in collaboration with teams
• Evaluate project priorities and tradeoffs with product stakeholders to deliver timely solutions
• Drive engineering practice improvements through documentation, mentorship, and organizational communication

Requirements

• Several years of software development experience with proven technical leadership
• Expertise in identity standards (OAuth, SAML, SCIM) and IAM platforms (Auth0, Okta, Entra, Ping)
• Experience designing and securing distributed, event-based systems at scale
• Proficiency with cloud infrastructure (AWS, GCP) and tools like Docker, Terraform, Kubernetes
• Polyglot programming skills; familiarity with TypeScript, JavaScript, Node.js, or Python preferred
• Track record setting technical vision and leading build-versus-buy decisions
• Strong cross-functional collaboration and mentoring abilities

Compensation: $160,000 - $220,000 base (California range; varies by location)
