Job Title: Quality Control Inspector (Days)
Job Description
This role focuses on inspecting parts and materials for pumps and rotating equipment in a busy shop environment. You will ensure that all components meet precise specifications by reading blueprints, performing detailed measurements, and documenting inspection results using computer systems. The position requires strong attention to detail, hands-on experience in a pump or machine shop, and a commitment to maintaining high quality standards.
Responsibilities
The company places a strong emphasis on taking care of employees and creating an environment where people want to stay long term. Team members enjoy highly competitive pay rates, generous paid time off that can be negotiated within reason, and dedicated paternity leave with potential for expansion. The benefits package includes company-paid portions of medical coverage along with dental and vision options, a 401(k) plan with a 3% match, and profit-sharing bonuses. Employees receive a $1500 referral bonus, frequent gear and clothing, and thoughtful holiday gifts. The workplace culture values recognition and appreciation, offering regular meals such as breakfast on Thursdays through Sundays and steak and eggs on Saturdays. Many employees have strong tenure or have joined from other shops and choose to stay because of the positive culture, stability, and overall satisfaction with the work environment.
Work Environment
The role is based in a medium-sized, air-conditioned shop that is very busy and filled with pumps and parts due to high business volume. The company plans to move to a larger facility in the near future to accommodate continued growth. Day shift staffing typically includes manual machinists, pump mechanics, and a welder, while the night shift also operates with a dedicated team of machinists, pump mechanics, and a welder. Day shift hours are Monday through Friday from 6:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., with Saturday hours from 6:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., including two paid breaks and one unpaid lunch. Employees generally work 10-hour shifts and can expect 50 to 60 hours per week, with occasional Sundays paid at double time. Night shift runs Monday through Friday from 3:30 p.m. to 2:30 a.m., with Saturday hours from 2:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m., also with two paid breaks and one unpaid lunch, and includes a 10% shift differential. The shop environment is collaborative and fast-paced, with many employees demonstrating long tenure and strong loyalty. The dress code includes steel-toe footwear, jeans, a work shirt, and safety glasses, reflecting the hands-on, safety-focused nature of the work.
