Design Engineer

gpac, a recruiting firm with 30+ years in business, is partnered with a well-established company in the structural steel and metals fabrication industry in the New Orleans, LA area. Our client is seeking a Design Engineer to design steel structures, connections, and systems.

Position Responsibilities:

Design and analyze steel members, connections, and structural systems
Prepare calculations, drawings, and design documents
Coordinate with detailing, estimating, and project teams
Review shop drawings for design intent
Support RFIs and design changes

Position Essential Job Functions:

Perform structural analysis using design software
Apply AISC, IBC, and related codes
Develop connection designs and details
Support estimating with design input
Maintain engineering documentation

Position Skills:

Bachelor's degree in civil or structural engineering
2+ years of structural steel or metal building design experience
EIT required; PE preferred
Experience with RISA, STAAD, MBS, or similar software
Strong knowledge of AISC design standards
