Primary Purpose of Organizational Unit University Development’s purpose is to support the mission of the university by raising private resources to enhance financial support for students, faculty, programs, and facilities. University Development provides leadership and centralized services to all development offices throughout the University, serving as a focal point for annual giving, application development and IT support; campaign management; constituent programs; corporate and foundation relations; donor relations; gift planning; gift services; industry relations; marketing/communications; parents giving; principal gifts; prospect management, research and analytics; regional programs; scholarships and student aid; talent management; university events; and volunteer engagement. Position Summary Lead and implement comprehensive fundraising strategies to secure annual, major, and principal gifts that advance institutional priorities and achieve established fundraising goals. Cultivate, solicit, and steward a portfolio of donors and prospects, building strong relationships and expanding philanthropic support through strategic engagement and outreach. Partner with institutional leadership, faculty, staff, boards, and volunteers to develop funding opportunities, fundraising initiatives, and donor engagement programs aligned with organizational objectives. Direct annual giving programs, fundraising campaigns, and donor recognition activities, monitoring performance and ensuring achievement of participation and revenue goals. Utilize advancement systems and data-driven strategies to manage donor information, track fundraising activity, evaluate results, and support strategic planning and decision‑making. Minimum Education and Experience Requirements Master’s or Bachelor’s and 0‑2 years’ experience; or will accept a combination of related education and experience in substitution. Required Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience Ability to interact effectively in a comprehensive environment such as a research university setting, and exhibit the highest standards of professionalism and performance as evidenced by collaborative teamwork, initiative, critical thinking, good judgment, consistency of output, timeliness of follow‑through and strength of written and verbal communication skills. Ability to motivate and engender the confidence of prospects and donors. Demonstrated experience with fundraising/development systems. Travel and some weekend work are required. Preferred Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience Preferably 3‑5 years of demonstrated successful major gift fundraising or transferrable experience. Proficiency with Excel.
