The ideal candidate will operate and maintain drum sanding equipment used to smooth and finish wood surfaces. This position requires precision, a strong work ethic, and a commitment to quality and safety standards in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. Key Responsibilities:
- Set up and operate drum sanders to sand and smooth wood components to specified finish levels.
- Select appropriate sanding materials and adjust machine settings based on job requirements.
- Inspect raw and finished parts to ensure they meet quality and dimension specifications.
- Monitor equipment performance, make routine adjustments, and report malfunctions or maintenance needs.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area, ensuring adherence to safety protocols.
- Keep accurate records of materials used, job completions, and any production issues.
- Collaborate with team members in related departments (e.g., cutting, assembly, finishing) to ensure product consistency and workflow efficiency.
- Previous experience operating drum sanders or other industrial sanding/woodworking equipment preferred.
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings or production specifications.
- Strong attention to detail and a commitment to quality craftsmanship.
- Physical ability to stand for extended periods and handle wood components of various sizes and weights.
- Basic math skills and the ability to use measuring tools such as calipers, rulers, and gauges.
- Understanding of safety practices in a woodshop or manufacturing environment.
