Position Summary 

The Plant Supervisor is responsible for overseeing all aspects of plant operations to ensure safe, efficient, and high‑quality manufacturing performance. This role provides leadership across production, maintenance, quality, and logistics functions, driving operational excellence, continuous improvement, and adherence to company standards and objectives.

This position is designed for an experienced operations leader with strong strategic, managerial, and problem‑solving capabilities. The Plant Supervisor leads and develops teams, implements innovative processes, optimizes resources, and ensures consistent delivery of operational and quality goals. This role plays a critical part in advancing organizational performance and reinforcing Universal Fabricating’s commitment to excellence, efficiency, and manufacturing leadership.

Key responsibilities

1. Manage day-to-day facility operations by overseeing maintenance and address any issues that could impact production efficiency.

1. Oversee all aspects of manufacturing; including job preparation, welding, machining, quality control, labour management, and painting.

1. Monitor and analyse production metrics to identify areas for improvements and implement corrective actions.

1. Increase production, assets capacity, and flexibility while minimizing unnecessary cost and maintain quality standards. 

1. Develop and manage the plant budget, monitoring expenses and identifying cost savings opportunities.

1. Collaborate with engineering, sales, and supply chain teams to align production capabilities with customer requirements.

1. Collaborate closely with shop supervisors to align goals, resolve challenges, and ensure seamless teamwork across.

1. Be responsible for production output, product quality, and on-time shipping.

1. Ensure all production processes are executed on schedule and meet quality.

1. Ensure production resources including, labour and materials, are planned and allocated effectively.

1. Implement strategies to meet production while maintaining high standards for safety and quality.

1. Monitor production downtime and implement solutions to minimize disruptions.

1. Share a trusting relationship with workgroup and recruit, manage and develop plant staff. 

1. Analyse workflows and identify opportunities for optimization.

1. Commit to plant safety procedures.

1. Develop systems and processes that track and optimize productivity, reduce costs, and improve overall manufacturing quality.

1. Address employees’ issues and grievances and administer collect barraging agreements. 

1. Influence and learn from below.

1. Build and maintain a strong, trustworthy team by mentoring and supporting employees at all levels. 

1. Conduct performance evaluations and provide feedback to team members.

1. Stay up to date with the latest production management best practices and concepts.
