We're rapidly expanding and we need great people to join our team.The Physician Assistant, Specialty (Orthopedic) is responsible for promoting and maintaining health by providing medical services under the supervision of a Market Clinical Director and/or other physician. The Physician Assistant, Specialty (Orthopedic) incumbent must demonstrate the ability to function both independently and in collaboration with other health care professionals. He/She consults with the clinical leadership team to ensure compliance with guidelines. This position may require participation in risk and quality management programs, clinical meetings and other meetings. The Physician Assistant, Specialty (Orthopedic) incumbent adheres to strict departmental goals/objectives, standards of performance, regulatory compliance, quality patient care compliance, and policies and procedures. Functions independently as a certified physician assistant in collaboration and consultation with a licensed patient care team physician. Practices in accordance with a written or electronic collaborative practice agreement.ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:Contributes to physician's effectiveness by identifying short-term and long-range patient care issues that must be addressed; providing information and commentary pertinent to deliberations; recommending options and courses of action; implementing physician directives.Assesses patient health by interviewing patients; performing physical examinations; obtaining, updating, and studying medical histories.Determines abnormal conditions by administering or ordering diagnostic tests, such as x-rays and laboratory studies; interpreting test results.Documents patient care services by charting in patient and department records.Performs therapeutic procedures by administering injections and immunizations; suturing; managing wounds and infections.Instructs and counsels patients by describing therapeutic regimens; giving normal growth and development information; discussing family planning; providing counseling on emotional problems of daily living; promoting wellness and health maintenance.Provides continuity of care by developing and implementing patient management plans.Maintains safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations.Protects patients and employees by adhering to infection-control policies and protocols.Complies with federal, state, and local legal and professional requirements by studying existing and new legislation; anticipating future legislation; enforcing adherence to requirements; advising management on needed actions.Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; participating in professional societies.Develops health care team staff by providing information, educational opportunities, and experiential growth opportunities.Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.Orthopedic duties include identifying and managing orthopedic patients, ordering appropriate orthopedic imaging / tests, and administering orthopedic specific therapeutic interventions as neededOther duties as assigned and modified at manager's discretion.KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:Demonstrated record of consistently achieving clinical performance metrics in current roleStrong critical thinking and problem-solving skillsExcellent communication and interpersonal skillsTime management skills with the ability to work well under pressureMust be caring and empathetic and have great listening skillsMust be detail-oriented, and able to pay close attention to patient charts, medications, and follow-up on details of patient careBasic computer skills and some knowledge of Microsoft Office SuiteProficient in Microsoft Office Suite products including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook, database, and presentation softwareAbility and willingness to travel locally, regionally and nationwide up to 75% of the timeSpoken and written fluency in English, bilingual a plusThis job requires use and exercise of independent judgmentEDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE CRITERIA:Master's Degree requiredBasic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) certification requiredCurrent DEA number from the DEA for schedule II-V controlled substances may be required based on State of practiceMinimum one (1) plus year experience working in a Orthopedic practiceSuccessful completion of program recognized by the accreditation Review Commission on Education of the Physician Assistant, appropriate state licensure, and certification
