Clinical Laboratory TechnologistConducts moderate to high complexity testing on clinical specimens in the hospital blood bank laboratory, including but not limited to type-and-screens, cross match, blood compatibility, and antibody screening.Bachelor's Degree in Clinical Laboratory Sciences or one of the physical sciences – Biology, ChemistryMinimum of six (6) years of laboratory testing experience in a clinical laboratoryCurrent NYS License as a Clinical Laboratory TechnologistCertification from the American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP) as Blood Bank Technologist, Specialist in Blood Banking, Medical Technologist (MT) or Medical Laboratory Scientist (MLS)- PreferredKnowledge of Laboratory Information System – PreferredMust possess verbal and spatial ability, form perception, finger and manual dexterity and clerical ability.Near visual acuity required for reading results from reports and viewing computer screensAbility to read, write, and speak English fluentlyAbility to read computer screens, procedure manuals and other documentsAbility to hear doorbells, alarms, telephone, and other mechanical devicesAbility to pass a test for color blindnessGood interpersonal and communication skills.Computer skills
