Lead Teacher

Role Description The Lead Teacher is a full-time, on-site position located in Freeport, NY, responsible for guiding the academic and personal development of students in alignment with St. Joseph's mission and educational standards. This role includes designing and delivering engaging lessons, managing classroom activities, and creating a supportive, inclusive learning environment. The Lead Teacher will assess student progress, provide constructive feedback, and adapt instructional strategies to meet diverse learning needs. Day-to-day responsibilities also involve collaborating with colleagues, mentoring assistant teachers or teaching aides, participating in curriculum development, and maintaining accurate records of student performance. The Lead Teacher is expected to communicate regularly with students, families, and administrators and to contribute to school initiatives, professional development, and community-building efforts. Qualifications Demonstrated expertise in Education and Teaching, with a strong grounding in pedagogical best practices. Proficiency in Lesson Planning and curriculum development to design structured, engaging, and standards-aligned learning experiences. Strong Communication skills, including the ability to convey complex concepts clearly and collaborate effectively with students, families, and colleagues. Experience in Training and mentoring other educators or classroom staff to support a cohesive instructional team. B-2 or 1-6 NYS Teaching Certification. Proven ability to work with diverse learners, fostering an inclusive classroom that supports equity and student success. Solid classroom management skills, with the ability to maintain a positive, respectful, and safe learning environment.
