Generator and HVAC Mechanic – SWA (Bahrain, UAE, Saudia Arabia, Kuwait, Jordan, Iraq) Perform troubleshooting, diagnostics, maintenance, and services on all types of military and commercial generators and HVAC systems used by the U.S. Army to include the 150kW EPP III generators. MEANINGFUL WORK AND PERSONAL IMPACT As a Generator and HVAC Mechanic, the work you’ll do at GDIT will be impactful to the mission of the Worldwide Field Support contract for the U.S. Army. You’ll play a crucial role in providing on-site technical and maintenance assistance, analyzing complex technical problems, and providing training to site operations and maintenance personnel. Responsibilities Perform maintenance and sustainment support on 3kW to 150kW, 50/60/400hz generators involving installation and removal of generators from fixed and mobile locations, troubleshoot and repair alternating current (AC) systems, direct current (DC) systems, electronic control systems and other program logic controls, electrical wiring and accessories. Troubleshoot and repair HVAC, Chillers, and Environmental Control Units – some are standalone units and others are mounted on trailers and vehicles. Maintain all types of commercial power generation equipment; military spec generators and Uninterrupted Power Systems (UPS). Operate a Load bank during testing. Fabricate wire harnesses and solder terminals. Some work will be in a generator shop environment, and some work will be in a field environment. Other duties as assigned. What you’ll need to succeed Education: High School diploma Experience: BA/BS plus 2 years’ experience, AA/AS/plus 4 years’ experience, or a High School diploma and 7 years’ experience Technical skills: Extensive diesel generator experience. Knowledge of generator parallel systems and switch gear. Experience with brazing copper tubing and evacuating and recharging refrigerant.
