About the Unit 2 West is a 23‑bed Med Surg unit and a 23‑bed Post‑Surgical unit. We have a very friendly staff who are welcoming and willing to mentor new RNs. We handle medium to high acuity patients with a 5‑to‑6 patient ratio. Our team is passionate about patient care and shared governance. About Taylor Hospital A Magnet‑designated hospital that has served the area since 1977. It offers specialty services including 24‑hour emergency care, wound care and hyperbaric oxygen therapy, a surgical pavilion, a pain management clinic, orthopedic surgery, an inpatient rehabilitation facility, and full‑service radiology with advanced CT, fixed MRI (including pacemaker), cine‑vision and ultrasound (MSK and elastography). Scope of Work Other RN duties include using the nursing process to provide professional nursing care under the direction of the Nurse Leader according to Corewell Health's policies. Nurses apply assessment, planning, implementation, evaluation, and discharge planning, partnering with patients and families to establish goals of care. They demonstrate knowledge of and competent performance of technical procedures, use equipment correctly, and document care in the patient record timely, accurately, and concisely. Teaching strategies are developed for patient/family education, with documentation in the health record. Qualifications Associate's degree in Nursing required. Bachelor's in Nursing within 5 years required. External candidates must have a minimum of 2 years of related acute care experience and successfully complete a competency assessment. Internal candidates with less than 2 years of clinical experience must be approved by their current nurse leader and the site Chief Nursing Officer and will remain a unit‑based PRN (casual) employee until they reach 2 years of nursing experience. Registered Nurse (RN) licence in Michigan required. AHA or ARC Basic Life Support (BLS) required upon hire. Specialty certification highly recommended within 2 years.
