Speech Language Pathologist (SLP)

The Austin Public School District is seeking to hire a Full Time Speech Language Pathologist (SLP) effective for the 2026-2027 school year. APS is a world-class public school system located in Austin, MN. We employ over 800 full- and part-time employees and serve over 5000 students from diverse backgrounds.

Qualifications: Candidates must have or be able to obtain a proper License from PELSB.

Duties Include:

• Evaluations and reports
• Re-evaluations and reports
• Progress Reports
• Parent/Teacher Conferences
• Weekly CMT meetings
• Monthly staff meetings
• Monthly department meetings
• Score, analyze, interpret, and write speech and language assessments
• Generate Individual Educational Plans (IEP) (write goals/objectives)
• Work daily with students identified and placed in the speech/language program and related service students such as ASD
• Maintain special education records including filing IEP forms in cum folders
• Maintain daily records of progress for individual students
• Contact parents to set up staffing and coordinate other professionals' attendance at IEP meetings
• Maintain periodic contacts with teachers and parents to discuss individual students
• Maintain records of parental contacts
• Maintain Medical Assistance billing records so that the district may receive reimbursement for work with eligible students

Essential knowledge and specialized subject knowledge required to perform the essential functions of the job: Prior successful experience in multicultural education desirable. Demonstrates continued professional development through course work, research, peer collaboration, and/or job-embedded staff development. Working knowledge of the subject matter, classroom management techniques, current researched best practices and strategies, as well as students' learning styles and needs, both academic and affective.
