The Registered Nurse in the Emergency Department plays a vital role in delivering expert care within a fast-paced, multi-disciplinary team. Working dedicated 12-hour shifts, this nurse performs thorough patient assessments, administers emergency care, and collaborates closely with colleagues to manage acute medical situations efficiently. The role demands keen critical thinking, precise documentation, and proficient use of EMR software, all while maintaining strict infection control and triage protocols.

 

13 Week Contract with extension availability

Hours: Night 3x12-Hour (19:00 - 07:30)

Charting: Epic

Freestanding ER

 

Responsibilities

• Assess patient conditions promptly upon arrival
• Provide emergency care and administer medications as prescribed
• Perform wound care and monitor vital signs regularly
• Document patient information accurately in electronic medical records
• Collaborate with physicians, nurses, and other ED team members
• Conduct triage to prioritize patient care effectively
• Maintain adherence to infection control policies
• Implement emergency procedures during critical incidents

 

Preferred Qualifications

• 2+ years experience in emergency nursing
• Bachelor's degree in Nursing
• Registered Nurse (RN) license
• Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS), Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS)
• Knowledge of National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale (NIHSS)
• Strong triage and patient assessment skills
• Excellent critical thinking and communication abilities
• Proficiency in EMR software
