For detailed information on paid time off, visit Employee Policy Manual, Section 5.ResponsibilitiesResponsibilities include:Prepares and dispenses medications ordered by physiciansMonitors resident medication usage for the appropriateness of therapy as well as the potential for adverse reactionsConsults with physicians to modify medication therapy as neededFurnishes information concerning medications to physicians, nurses and other health care professionalsEnters new medication information into the pharmacy information systemOversees the use of automated dispensing technology and the preparation of sterile IV prescriptionsChecks prescriptions filled by Pharmacy Technicians for accuracyCounsels residents, inpatients and outpatients as neededEnsures medication rooms on the nursing units are properly secured and medication is dispensed appropriatelyInspects medication rooms on the nursing units on a monthly basis to ensure proper sanitary conditions, proper storage, drug expiration dates, inventory, and approval of contentsConsults physicians on questionable orders or dosagesInventories pharmaceutical supplies; checks incoming drugs to put in stock and maintains drugs in good orderRecommends hires and promotions, directs and evaluates employment decisions for all assigned positionsRequirements IncludeRequirements include:Possession of a PharmD degree or graduation from an accredited School of PharmacyOne year of experience as a licensed pharmacistPossession of a valid Illinois Pharmacist LicenseA pre-employment background check is required.A post offer physical is required.Physical Requirements and Work EnvironmentThe physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of the job.
