This contract opportunity offers the chance to utilize your specialized expertise while collaborating with educators and administrators dedicated to student growth. You’ll work with learners of diverse backgrounds, tailoring instruction and accommodations to their unique needs, and empowering them to achieve academic and personal success.
Preferred Qualifications and Experience:
- Valid certification or licensure as a Teacher of the Visually Impaired (TVI)
- Demonstrated experience working with visually impaired children in educational settings
- Strong knowledge of Braille instruction, assistive technology, and adaptive communication methods
- Ability to develop and modify individualized education plans (IEPs)
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to work with students, families, and school teams
- Passion for fostering independence, self-advocacy, and inclusive learning
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and deliver specialized instruction for students with visual impairments, adapting curriculum and materials as needed
- Assess each student’s abilities; monitor progress and adjust plans accordingly
- Collaborate effectively with general education teachers, related service providers, and families
- Provide training and consultation on adaptive tools and techniques for staff and caregivers
- Advocate for accessibility and inclusion within the school environment
- Maintain accurate records, ensure compliance with IDEA, and participate in IEP meetings
