Position Title STAFF MANAGEMENT AUDITOR (SPECIALIST) - State Controller's Office Position Details Location: Sacramento County Job Type: Permanent, Full Time Facility: Division of Audits Salary: $6,955.00 - $9,142.00 per month Telework: Hybrid Department Overview The Office of the State Controller (SCO) and Division of Audits (AUD) conduct financial and compliance audits to promote transparency and accountability in the use of public funds. As an auditor, you will play a key role in identifying areas for improvement, detecting fraud, and ensuring taxpayer dollars are spent appropriately. Job Description and Duties The Special Audits Bureau performs audits and reviews across state and local agencies for training programs. Under direction of the Audit Manager, the Staff Management Auditor (Specialist) leads, works with audit teams, and performs complex engagements independently. Conduct audits in an independent and proficient manner to fulfill contractual agreements, statutory and constitutional responsibilities, using software such as Microsoft Office and TeamMate. Ensure audit work is properly supported and meets the requirements of SCO engagement manuals and professional auditing standards. Plan audits to meet objectives and evaluate internal control; determine hours and completion dates evident in engagement memorandum. Perform expanded testing of internal control and evaluate procedures. Recommend changes to audit programs, inform senior management, and provide technical advice on report preparation. Act in a lead role: plan, coordinate, assign tasks, train and assist auditors, conduct meetings, review working papers. Conduct research on complex audit issues and coordinate with Senior Management Auditor for changes to audit programs; perform special projects such as drafting legal opinions, budget change proposals, legislative analyses.
