Combined with the strength and capabilities of Lexington Insurance, Western World offers a broad suite of E&S products that help agents and address complex risks ranging from Main Street businesses to sophisticated middle market accounts.This is a unique opportunity for a highly experienced E&S casualty underwriter to help shape the future of a growing business segment while serving as a technical casualty expert and mentor to others within the organization.How you will create an impactUnderwrite and manage a profitable portfolio of casualty & package business, including new and renewal submissions.Analyze exposures, loss history, financial information, and underwriting data to make sound risk selection and pricing decisions.Negotiate terms, conditions, pricing, and coverage structures with wholesale partners.Maintain underwriting authority while ensuring compliance with company guidelines, risk appetite, and regulatory requirements.Serve as the casualty subject matter expert for the division, providing guidance and technical support to less experienced underwriters.Partner with leadership to drive casualty growth initiatives and execute business strategies within targeted segments and industries.Help identify trends in production, retention, rate achievement, and loss performance, recommending actions to improve portfolio results.Build and strengthen relationships with key agency partners through regular engagement, joint business planning, and agency visits.Mentor and develop less experienced underwriters through coaching, training, and sharing of underwriting best practices. Monitor marketplace conditions, competitive activity, and emerging casualty exposures to identify growth opportunities and potential risks.Conduct agency visits and represent Western World at industry events and marketing functionsWhat you’ll need to succeedMinimum of 7+ years of E&S Casualty underwriting experience, including experience handling middle market and larger accounts. Strong technical expertise in casualty underwriting, including General Liability, Products liability and Excess Liability. Some property experience is a plus. Proven ability to evaluate complex risks and make sound underwriting decisions. Proven ability to mentor less experienced underwritersStrong negotiation, communication, and relationship-building skills. Preferred QualificationsExperience underwriting package business, including working knowledge of commercial property coverages and exposures.Existing relationships within the wholesale brokerage community.CPCU, AU, ARM, ASLI, or other relevant professional designations.Experience working within delegated underwriting authority environments and the E&S marketplace.Ready to maximize your impact? We would love to hear from you.For positions based in New Jersey, the base salary range is $130,000-$171,000 and the position is eligible for a bonus in accordance with the terms of the applicable incentive plan. Your actual compensation will be dependent on your skills, experience, and qualifications.
