Five days onsite may be required based on business needs.What you should know about our team:You’ll join a Product Engineering environment focused on developing reliable embedded software for security systems. In this role, you’ll work hands-on across embedded Linux development, system integration, build and release automation, and production support. You’ll collaborate closely with Systems, Hardware, Quality, DevOps, Security, and Product teams to turn requirements into production-ready software.What you will do:You’ll own meaningful pieces of the embedded software lifecycle, from design and development through testing, integration, and release. Your work will help improve the reliability, repeatability, and quality of the software and firmware that powers our security products.Design, develop, debug, test, and maintain C/C++ software and firmware in embedded Linux environments.Build and enhance Linux platform components, including system services, device interfaces, networking functions, board configurations, and hardware and cloud integrations.Deliver maintainable, production-quality code and unit tests while reviewing pull requests and ensuring changes meet architecture, security, quality, and coding standards.Own and improve embedded build and release environments using Buildroot, cross-compilation toolchains, package integration, versioning, system image generation, and artifact management.Automate and maintain build, test, and release pipelines incorporating continuous integration, static analysis, test execution, release validation, and deployment readiness.Investigate and resolve build, integration, and release failures through root-cause analysis and corrective actions that improve reliability and release quality.Integrate and govern AI-assisted engineering tools for development, code review, test generation, defect analysis, and documentation while applying appropriate validation, security, IP, and traceability controls.Collaborate across Systems, Hardware, Quality, DevOps, Security, and Product teams while developing reusable automation, frameworks, and engineering practices.What you need to be successful:Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Management Information Systems, or equivalent experience.Strong hands-on experience developing and debugging C/C++ software in embedded Linux environments.Knowledge of Linux kernel concepts, device interfaces, system services, networking, and software security.Hands-on experience with Buildroot, including configuration, package integration, board configuration, cross-compilation, system image generation, and build troubleshooting.Experience supporting firmware release processes, including firmware over-the-air releases.Experience managing automated build, test, and release pipelines for embedded products.Strong technical judgment, ownership, teamwork, and the ability to communicate effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders.Ability to work across functions and quickly learn new technical concepts.What will set you apart:Experience with Yocto.Experience with Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, LTE, Z-Wave, Matter, or Thread.Experience designing systems to meet non-functional requirements.Experience leading cross-functional engineering efforts.Experience applying AI-assisted tools responsibly within software engineering workflows.How ADT invests in you:Culture of professional development & trainingCommitment to equity and inclusion through ongoing initiatives, employee resource groups, and employee recognition programs.Volunteer OpportunitiesPay per performance cultureClick here to view our full benefit offerings.Why you’ll love working here:We boldly shape the future, embracing change, taking smart risks, and continuously improving to create the best experiences.We lead by taking ownership, empowering you to make decisions, solve problems proactively, and support each other with empathy.We elevate to serve a greater purpose, going above and beyond to earn trust, celebrate wins, and value every perspective.We unite and win together, fostering teamwork, breaking down silos, and achieving shared goals through inclusivity and collaboration.
