Job Summary/Objective of Job

The Warehouse Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of the warehouse, including the shipping, receiving and material handling departments. A qualified candidate will assign work to team members, provide adequate training, and ensure that productivity, accuracy and efficiency metrics are met. 

 

Summary of Essential Job Functions

• Motivate, inspire, direct and discipline warehouse employees in order to match daily demand and achieve production, accuracy and efficiency metrics
• Set and communicate the vision of each department of the warehouse, including how said vision ties into overall vision of Valley Truck Parts
• Work with cross-functional departments to streamline processes as it relates to inventory, shipping, delivery and order picking
• Properly and effectively train and cross train warehouse employees on job duties to ensure proper coverage in event of absences
• Coordinate and lead meetings and ensure timely communication with employees on various topics (i.e. 03’s, procedure changes, HR programs, new initiatives, etc.)
• Research, develop and implement improvement strategies and/or processes to control costs on labor and/or supplies
• Partner closely with purchasing to ensure adequate stock levels while keeping inventory at a minimum
• Create and maintain out work orders, change overs, transfer orders, and other warehouse-related paperwork
• Locate lost inventory and use root cause analysis to determine the cause of loss and correct
• Maintain specific process regarding bearing kit inventory, ensuring inventory is corrected as needed
• Lead team members to ensure end-of-night shipping and transfer process is completed properly each day
• Maintain Warehouse-related Key Performance Indicators (KPI’s) or Desired Outcomes
• Ensure the health, safety, cleanliness and security of the work environment
• Support each warehouse department and fill in with day-to-day activities, as needed
• Direct daily scheduling for multi-site deliveries, leveraging TMS and real-time telematics data to maximize on-time performance and asset utilization while holding

 

Light Assembly & Change-Over Responsibilities 

• Perform front- and rear-cap change-overs on Spicer® mid-range units: remove caps, install new gaskets or RTV sealant, replace seals and bearing races, and torque fasteners to spec.
• Execute front-cap swaps on Eaton FS series transmissions, ensuring new gasket, seal, bearing race, Loctite®, and final torque verification.
• Carry out rear-cap change-overs on Eaton FS series transmissions, including shift-cover removal, shim stack setup, and dial-indicator end-play adjustment to 0.006″–0.010″.
• Complete input-shaft changes that require snap-ring removal/installation and bearing replacement.
• Proficient with impact drivers, calibrated torque wrenches, snap-ring pliers, seal & bearing installers, and dial indicators.

Qualifications 

• High School Diploma or GED Equivalent
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Can-do attitude in the face of change
• Strong ability to inspire followership 
• Demonstrated ability to motivate, inspire, train and discipline others
• Forklift certification or the ability to obtain
• Basic math and computer skills; Microsoft Excel skills preferred
• Ability to remain results-focused in a fast-paced environment

Physical Demands 

• Lifting and Carrying: Frequently lifting and carrying items, often weighing up to 50 pounds or more.
• Standing and Walking: Prolonged periods of standing and walking, sometimes on uneven surfaces.
• Pushing and Pulling: Pushing and pulling carts or hand trucks loaded with goods.
• Bending and Stooping: Regularly bending, stooping, and kneeling to load and unload items.
• Driving: Long hours of driving, which can be physically tiring.
• Reaching: Reaching overhead and at shoulder level to handle packages.
• Climbing: Occasionally climbing in and out of the delivery vehicle.
