PsychiatristThe Psychiatrist provides continuous, comprehensive, and patient-centered psychiatric services for the promotion of optimal mental health, prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of psychiatric disorders. This role includes full psychiatric evaluation, diagnosis, medication management, and coordination of care for patients across the lifespan. The Psychiatrist works collaboratively with primary care providers, behavioral health clinicians, and community partners to deliver integrated care consistent with the Patient-Centered Medical Home (PCMH) model.The Psychiatrist serves as a clinical leader within the behavioral health program and models behaviors consistent with the mission, values, and Code of Conduct of Roanoke Chowan Community Health Center (RCCHC).RCCHC Mission: Great care for every one every day.RCCHC Vision: Striving to be the primary healthcare provider, dedicated to and supported by the people we serve.RCCHC Values: Respectful, Compassionate, Caring, Honest, CommittedRoanoke Chowan Community Health Center will provide open-access, community-oriented primary care of the highest quality to all residents in our service area and surrounding counties, regardless of their ability to pay.Minimum QualificationsGeneral Competencies:Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a multidisciplinary healthcare environmentStrong clinical judgment, decision-making, and problem-solving skillsExcellent verbal and written communication skillsCommitment to community health, health equity, and serving underserved populationsAbility to maintain strict confidentiality and professional boundariesEducation:Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) from an accredited medical schoolCompletion of an accredited residency in PsychiatryLicensure and Certification:Current, unrestricted license to practice medicine in the State of North CarolinaBoard eligible or board certified in Psychiatry by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology (ABPN)Current DEA registration eligible for North CarolinaEligible for Federal Tort Claims Act (FTCA) coverageExperience:Prior clinical experience in outpatient psychiatric care preferredExperience in Federally Qualified Health Centers (FQHCs), integrated care models, or underserved settings preferred but not requiredKnowledge:Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC) regulations, including Section 330 of the Public Health Service Act340B Drug Pricing ProgramIntegrated behavioral health and collaborative care modelsElectronic Health Records (Epic preferred)Skills:Comprehensive psychiatric assessment and diagnostic formulationPsychopharmacologic management across the lifespanRisk assessment, crisis intervention, and emergency psychiatric careSupervision and consultation with advanced practice providers and behavioral health staffQuality improvement and population health managementAbilities:Ability to manage a panel of psychiatric patients using registries and evidence-based practicesAbility to evaluate clinical outcomes and participate in continuous quality improvementAbility to remain calm and effective in high-acuity or emergency situationsAbility to use Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and organizational software systemsEligibility:Not subject to any other restraints which would impair or encumber the ability or authority to perform the duties described in this documentNot currently a party to any claim or lawsuit involving prior medical practice and knows of no facts that would cause one to believe any claim or lawsuit would be filedHas not been excluded from participation in any federal health care program, as defined under 42 U.S.C. 1320a-7b (f), for the provision of items or services for which payment may be made under such federal health care programs. No final adverse action, as such term is defined under 42 U.S.C. 1320a-7e (g), has occurred or is pending or threatened.Essential FunctionsConduct comprehensive psychiatric evaluations, diagnostic assessments, and treatment planningDiagnose and treat mental health and substance use disorders using evidence-based practicesPrescribe, monitor, and manage psychotropic medications in accordance with clinical guidelinesProvide consultation to primary care and behavioral health providers regarding psychiatric conditions and treatment plansCollaborate with interdisciplinary care teams to ensure coordinated and integrated patient careOrder, interpret, and act upon laboratory tests and diagnostic studies as clinically indicatedProvide patient and family education regarding diagnoses, medications, risks, benefits, and treatment alternativesMaintain accurate, timely, and compliant clinical documentation in the electronic health recordParticipate in quality improvement initiatives, peer review, and clinical committees as assignedRespond appropriately to psychiatric emergencies, including assessment for hospitalization and referral for inpatient careParticipate in community outreach, education programs, and health fairs as requestedAttend medical staff meetings and participate in continuing medical education (CME) activitiesPerform other duties as assigned, consistent with the scope of psychiatric practiceProvider Responsibilities:Practice medicine in accordance with ethical standards and the regulations of the North Carolina Medical BoardComply with RCCHC policies, procedures, Code of Conduct, and compliance program requirementsComplete all credentialing, privileging, and onboarding requirements in a timely mannerMaintain required licensure, board status, and DEA registrationMeet full-time or part-time clinical hours as designated by contract, agreement, signed offer letter, or addenda thereofComplete clinical documentation within 48 hours unless otherwise directedParticipate in at least one RCCHC community service committee or quality improvement initiative each quarterCooperate with operational and performance improvement initiativesProvide care to all patients accepted for services at RCCHC in accordance with organizational protocolsProvide 90 days' written notice of resignation
