Lead Platform Engineer

As our Lead Platform Engineer, you will be the technical architect and leader for our platform systems. You will ensure scalable integrations with diverse data sources and robust mappings to an evolving internal ontology, while driving the development of high performance data pipelines and integrating cutting-edge AI models. You'll grow and lead a team of engineers, collaborating closely with frontend and product teams to deliver cutting-edge visualization tools. This is a hands-on leadership role where you'll code, mentor, and strategize in a dynamic startup environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, architect, and implement scalable platform services for data ingestion and processing from various cybersecurity sources.
• Map incoming data to our unified ontology, ensuring standardized representation and seamless integration for enhanced visualization and analysis.
• Lead and grow the engineering team, providing technical guidance, code reviews, and mentorship to foster a high-performance culture.
• Develop and optimize data pipelines for efficient handling of large-scale security data, ensuring reliability, security, and performance, with a focus on ontology mapping.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define technical roadmaps, integrate client visualization features, and align platform capabilities with product goals.
• Champion best practices in software engineering, including CI/CD, testing, and monitoring, while ensuring compliance with cybersecurity standards.
• Troubleshoot complex issues, optimize system performance, and drive continuous improvements in platform infrastructure.
• Stay abreast of emerging technologies in cybersecurity, data engineering, and platform development to inform strategic decisions.

Required Qualifications

• 10+ years of professional experience in backend development, with a strong track record of building scalable, production-grade systems.
• 4+ years of experience in a technical leadership role, including team management and project delivery.
• Proven expertise in data engineering, including ETL processes, data modeling, and working with large datasets.
• Proficiency in backend technologies such as Node.js or Go, databases (SQL/NoSQL), containerization (Docker, K8s), and cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP).
• Experience integrating with APIs and data sources, preferably in cybersecurity or related fields.
• Experience leveraging modern AI-powered IDEs, such as Cursor or Claude Code, to accelerate prototyping and streamline development workflows.
• Strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to lead through ambiguity in a startup setting.

Preferred Qualifications

• Hands-on experience in the cybersecurity domain, such as working with SIEM tools, EDR platforms, or cloud security services.
• Experience with ontology development and mapping in data-intensive environments.
• Experience training, deploying, and integrating machine learning models or large language models (LLMs).
