Physical Therapist PositionThis position is responsible for providing advanced specialty care in the Physical Therapy. This position performs direct patient care, supervisory, educational and administrative functions and is responsible for marketing, program development and program implementation.Responsibilities(20%) Evaluates the patient's function by performing formal/informal testing measures to determine the skeletal, neurological, respiratory, and cardiovascular status.(20%) Develops a goal specific treatment regime based on assessment data and the patient's tolerance to carry out the treatment plan as prescribed.(20%) Submits a written treatment regime to be included as part of the plan of treatment authorized by and coordinated with the physician. Updates plan of care as needed to reflect changes in patient status. Cosigns verbal orders received by physical therapist assistant as necessary.(20%) Devises a schedule of treatment, which is frequency and duration specific to be discussed with patient/family/caregiver and coordinated with clinical support staff.(20%) Educates patient, family, and/or caregiver regarding pathology or condition, patient alternatives, prognosis, and rationale for treatment through forms of rest, exercise, modalities, and other indicated interventions.Additional Responsibilities: Is actively involved in some of the following activities:Develops specialty programs, including protocols and marketing. Participates in and/or provides in service education to meet ongoing knowledge needs of self and others, including physicians, staff members and community members. Assists manager or supervisor with administrative duties as needed, and provide leadership in their absence. Teaches in clinical and/or academic setting. Mentors employees within own discipline. Serves as Clinical Instructor for students. Participate in shared governance, focus groups, and/or other administrative or educational teams. Keep current with area(s) of expertise so that clinical care reflects best practices.Other Duties and Responsibilities:Teaches in clinical and/or academic setting.Mentors employees within own discipline.Serves as Clinical Instructor for students.Assumes leadership role in the absence of manager.All other duties as assigned.Level II Ongoing Performance Expectations:1) Productivity / efficiencyMaintains department productivity standards at or above target for at least 10 of 12 months annually. Department standard is 65% acute, 70% acute/outpatient mix, 75% outpatient.2) Documentation qualityDemonstrates high-quality documentation with minimal errors.This is measured during chart audit by leadership.3) Attendance / reliabilityDemonstrates consistent attendance and schedule reliability.Managers will monitor and track attendance.4) Patient satisfaction / serviceMaintains patient satisfaction scores at or above 90% using FOTO scores for outpatient or demonstrates no recurring patient service concerns for the acute care setting.5) Mentorship / leadership contributionCompletes a minimum of two documented leadership, mentoring, or educational contributions annually.Examples: mentor 1 new hire, precept 1 student, lead 1 in-service, chair committee work, competency educator (yearly competency checks)6) Quality improvement / initiative workActively participates in at least one quality, operational, or service-line improvement initiative annually with documented outcomes or progress milestones.Examples: LOS, reduction project, documentation improvement, patient leakage reduction, surgeon alignment/grand rounds attendance, Epic workflow improvement7) Professional developmentCompletes minimum annual CE requirements and one advanced professional development activity relevant to specialty role.Example: specialty CE, Certification Maintenance, conference presentation, evidence-based practice review.Certifications and LicensuresCredential: BLS: Basic Life Support Equivalent Experience: Within 1 month of hire or transferQualification Source: AHACredential: PT: Physical Therapist Equivalent Experience:Qualification Source:Required EducationEducation: Bachelors Degree Equivalent Experience:Education Specialization: PTEducation: Doctorate Equivalent Experience:Education Specialization: PTOther InformationEXPERIENCE, TRAINING AND SKILLS: Clinical experience in the field of physical therapy as normally acquired through 5 years of experience working in a medical center environment or similar setting required. Interpersonal skills needed to communicate effectively with individuals and groups and interact with people at all levels to communicate ideas and concepts in a clear and understandable manner. Mandatory Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) training must be completed annually according to the Exposure Control Plan. Three years of clinical experience at MyMichigan Health Rehabilitation Services preferredPHYSICAL/MENTAL REQUIREMENTS AND TYPICAL WORKING CONDITIONS: Exposure to stressful situations, including those involving public contact, as well as, trauma, grief and death. Able to wear personal protective equipment that includes latex materials or appropriate substitute if required for your position. Is able to move freely about facility with or without an assisted device and must be able to perform the functions of the job as outlined in the job description. Overall vision and hearing is necessary with or without assisted device(s). Frequently required to sit/stand/walk for long periods of time. May require frequent postural changes such as stooping, kneeling or crouching. Some exposure to blood borne pathogens and other potentially infectious material. Must follow MyMichigan Health bloodborne pathogen and TB testing as required.
