Senior IC Validation Engineer

About The Role and Team TheIntegrated Circuits Teamis responsible for the design and test of the integrated circuits which operate at deep-cryogenic temperatures and interact with the qubits. This role is a unique chance to work at the bleeding edge of technology development where you will measure, optimize, and analyze the performance of innovative circuits to tackle the engineering challenge of implementing a large-scale quantum computer in silicon. As anIC Validation Engineer, the position will suit someone with a strong background in the following areas and the ability to flexibly apply and combine them on a daily basis: practical electronics test and measurement, experimental design, statistics and data analysis, analogue and mixed-signal circuit operation principles, and CMOS device physics and process.No background in quantum physics is required. Functions of the Role Carry cryo-CMOS integrated circuit designs through multi-die performance characterization and applications support for integration with quantum devices High-quality documentation of experimental design, measurement analysis/conclusions, application requirements, and user guides Highly effective hardware and software debugging Develop efficient and automated measurement and analysis routines to enable confident and scalable characterization of IC performance Experience - Essentials Familiarity with bench-level electronic test and measurement equipment such as SMUs, VNAs, amplifiers, oscilloscopes, etc. Proficient in reading circuit schematics Strong intuition and methodical approach to circuit debugging Advanced programming and data analytics ability Knowledge of Python, C, or similar programming language Degree qualification in Electrical, Electronic, and/or Computer Engineering Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a high-level of self-management Excellent verbal and written communication skills Experience - Desirable Prior experience with cryogenic electronics Prior experience with quantum devices (especially semiconductor spin-based) Advanced statistical analysis expertise Prior experience in IC Applications Engineering and/or IC Product Engineering High-frequency device characterisation experience (RF and/or noise) Knowledge of SOI processes and fabrication technologies Familiarity with machine learning techniques and libraries Benefits Be part of a creative, world-leading team Competitive salary and share options scheme Region-specific benefits (e.g. Health Insurance) Choose your own laptop/kit Flexible working Located in Maryland College Park - a state-of-the-art quantum hub EEO Statement Quantum Motion is an equal opportunity employer.
