Job Description

Position: Travel Registered Nurse (RN) – PACU

Job Summary:
We are seeking an experienced Travel PACU Registered Nurse (RN) to provide high-quality post-anesthesia care to patients recovering from surgical procedures. The PACU RN is responsible for monitoring patients during the immediate recovery phase, managing pain and potential complications, and ensuring patients are stable for discharge or transfer to the appropriate level of care. The ideal candidate has strong critical thinking skills, experience caring for post-operative patients, and the ability to respond quickly to changes in patient condition.

Key Responsibilities

• Assess and monitor patients recovering from general, regional, and conscious sedation anesthesia.
• Monitor vital signs, airway status, oxygenation, cardiac rhythm, neurological status, and pain levels.
• Identify and respond promptly to post-operative complications, including respiratory distress, bleeding, cardiac events, and adverse reactions to anesthesia.
• Administer medications, IV fluids, blood products, and pain management therapies as ordered.
• Maintain airway patency and provide oxygen therapy or emergency interventions when necessary.
• Perform comprehensive patient assessments and document recovery progress in the electronic medical record (EMR).
• Collaborate with anesthesiologists, surgeons, physicians, and perioperative staff to ensure safe patient recovery.
• Educate patients and families regarding post-operative care, medications, discharge instructions, and follow-up care.
• Ensure compliance with infection prevention, patient safety, and hospital policies.
• Float to other appropriate perioperative areas when required and within competency.
