Day - 08 Hour (United States of America) This is a Stanford Health Care Tri-Valley job. A Brief Overview The Pharmacy Operations Supervisor is a licensed pharmacist responsible for both clinical pharmacy expertise and oversees daily operations of the pharmacy department. This role will have direct operational oversight of the pharmacy technician team to manage efficient staffing, workflow optimization, and inventory management. The Supervisor will also collaborate with healthcare professionals and pharmacy leadership to optimize medication therapy, maintain regulatory compliance, and cultivate a high-performing, patient-centered care team. Locations Stanford Health Care Tri-Valley What you will do Pharmacy Operations & Medication Management Manage inventory, including ordering, receiving, and storage of medications and supplies. Ensure compliance with federal and state regulations regarding the handling, storage, and dispensing of controlled substances. Oversee the preparation and dispensing of medications, including sterile and non-sterile products such as intravenous (IV) admixtures and other compounded products, ensuring accuracy and compliance with protocols. Ensure compliance with compounding practices in accordance with USP standards and regulatory requirements. Develop and implement pharmacy policies and procedures to enhance operational efficiency. Collaborate with other departments to optimize medication use, budget, resource planning and improve patient outcomes. Lead or participate in clinical or operational innovation projects, including automation, formulary optimization, and process redesign. Monitor and report on key performance indicators (KPIs) such as medication availability, dispensing accuracy, inventory turnover, and staffing productivity. Analyze medication-use data to identify optimization opportunities; lead or participate in improvement initiatives and formal change management. Oversee pharmacy automation and information systems (e.g., inventory automation, barcode verification, electronic health record interfaces) and participate in system upgrades or validation activities. Implement and manage medication therapy management programs. Technician Team Supervision Directly supervise, mentor, and coordinate the daily activities of pharmacy technicians. Foster a collaborative and positive work environment that encourages professional development. Assist in the recruitment, training, and evaluation of pharmacy personnel. Inventory Control & Purchasing Manage medication and supply inventory, including ordering, receiving, and proper storage of pharmaceuticals and department supplies. Coordinate and execute annual drug inventories at all pharmacy locations. Oversee the inventory control system, including management of pharmaceutical purchases and departmental supply chain needs. Ensure compliance with federal and state regulations regarding the handling, storage, and dispensing of controlled substances, including accurate record-keeping. Education & Training Provide education and training to pharmacy staff, healthcare providers, and patients regarding medication use and safety. Conduct regular training and competency assessments for staff involved in sterile and non-sterile compounding and Tech-Check-Tech program. Remain current with advancements in pharmacy practice and medication therapies. Regulatory Compliance & Quality Assurance Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local pharmacy laws and regulations. Maintain accurate records and documentation related to pharmacy operations, including controlled substances and sterile and non-sterile compounding. Analyze medication use data to identify trends and opportunities for improvement. Conduct regular audits and quality assurance activities to ensure adherence to standards. Prepare for and participate in regulatory inspections and audits. Participate in research initiatives and quality improvement projects related to pharmacy services. Education Qualifications Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm.D.) degree from an accredited pharmacy school Required Post-graduate residency training preferred or equivalent practice experience Preferred Experience Qualifications 3+ years to 5 years in pharmacy operations Required Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities The drive, to learn, inspire, influence and educate others with humility while being assertive in advocating for the department of pharmacy yet cooperative with other leaders, physicians, and clinicians Executing the Oath of a Pharmacist along with the department of pharmacy's mission and vision by serving as a role model and by leading necessary changes in collaboration with pharmacy leadership Excellent innovation, critical thinking, conflict resolution, negotiation, and problem-solving skills Licenses and Certifications BLS - Basic Life Support required . Base Pay Scale: Generally starting at $81.52 - $108.69 per hour The salary of the finalist selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to, internal equity, experience, education, specialty and training.
