Registered Behavior Technician (RBT)

As a Registered Behavior Tech, you will support teachers and administrators by working with students with behavior challenges in a classroom setting. In this role, you may work one-on-one with a student in a mainstream or special education classroom. You may be asked to support multiple students in a separate classroom designed to meet their unique educational needs. Your students will vary in age from prekindergarten to adult-transition, depending on the school to which you will be assigned within the district. Their behavior challenges may range from mild to moderate to severe. The level of intervention and support they require will be determined case-by-case, according to the parameters outlined in their individual education plans (IEP) or 504 plans. Your primary responsibilities will involve helping students learn to manage their behavior and optimize their learning experience. You will also play an important role in preserving a positive learning environment for their classmates and teachers. You will help students meet individual behavioral and academic goals by encouraging positive behaviors and setting appropriate boundaries. Teachers and administrators will also rely on you to observe and report students' progress toward the goals outlined in their IEP/504 plans. We are looking for a versatile RBT willing to collaborate with a diverse group of students, educators, and administrators. Duties and responsibilities include:

• Assist with the implementation and monitoring of individualized education plans (IEP) or 504 plans
• Maintain and keep client service logs up to date for each student for whom services are provided
• Maintain confidentiality and exercise discretion pertaining to the school environment
• Support students in transition to general education through the use of inclusion support techniques, such as shadow prompting
• Assist in the management and shaping of student behavior with positive reinforcement strategies
• Assist and or tutor students individually or in small groups
• Monitor and supervise students both inside the classroom and during outside activities
• Continually assist in identifying and developing new reinforcement options that will be motivating to students
• Ensure all services are performed in accordance with state laws and school policies
• Collaborate and consult with school and district staff to support student progress
• Deliver hands-on and supervised toileting and diapering assistance to students while maintaining dignity, privacy, and full compliance with internal policies
• Assist in maintaining a neat, orderly, and clean learning environment
• Assist BCBA with observations and data collection for assessments
• Accept and apply feedback provided by supervisors

Requirements include:

• Must be able to occasionally lift and/or carry up to 50 pounds
• Must be able to provide life-saving interventions if needed. This includes the ability to perform at least 5 sets of hands only CPR for roughly 2 minutes
• Must be able to assume and maintain a variety of postures (kneeling, squatting, crawling, sitting, standing) for extended periods of time
• Must be able to sit on the floor, stand, or walk for extended periods of time which normally will be the length of the school day and include the physical demands of assisting a student or students in and outside of a classroom space
• Must be willing and able to restrain/hold/transport and utilize quick body movements as indicated in the Behavior Intervention Plan while working with children with challenging behavior
• Must have manual dexterity to perform specific computer and electronic device functions for data collection
• Must be able to receive and communicate detailed information through oral communication
• Must have visual acuity to read and comprehend written communication through computer, electronic devices, and paper means
• Must have reliable transportation and be willing and able to travel between different job sites based on job assignment
• Must be flexible and willing to work in a variety of schools and settings
• Must have the ability to be understanding, patient, friendly, and show a receptive attitude toward children with special needs and must demonstrate the ability to remain calm under stressful conditions
• Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in English at a level required for successful job performance
• Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos
• Ability to write simple correspondence
• Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to employees of the school district
• Ability to meet and interact with teachers and students with tact, courtesy, and discretion
• Highschool-level math proficiency

Qualifications:

• Education: High School Diploma or equivalent
• Experience: Prior ABA experience working with children in a home, facility, or school setting is preferred
• Licensure and Certifications: Active Registered Behavior Technician (RBT) certification and/or a current RBT certification on voluntary inactive status through the Behavior Analyst Certification Board (BACB) BLS certification
