Requirements Possession of a Master of Library Science (MLS) or Master of Library and Information Science (MLIS) degree from an accredited institution*
License A valid California Class C Driver License or the ability to utilize an alternative method of transportation when needed to carry out job-related essential functions.

This class requires that the incumbent stand or walk most of the time with bending, stooping, squatting, twisting, reaching, working on irregular surfaces, occasional lifting of objects weighing over 25 pounds, and frequent lifting of 10-25 pounds. Special Requirement Information:

- Provide public service by responding to reference inquiries, providing reader's advisory services, and assisting customers in locating, evaluating, and using library resources and services, including directing customers to library materials and explaining library organizations and layout.
- Coordinate library programs, including reading programs for youth; present book talks; and prepare supporting materials, such as bibliographies, resources guides, and special displays.
- Support a variety of library service areas, including reference assistance, youth and adult services programming, and performs specialized assignments in support of departmental needs.
- Maintain on-site collections, including print materials, audiovisual resources, and government publications.
