Material Controller

Position Summary The Material Controller will be responsible for moving product to maintain appropriate flow through production areas. The incumbent will be responsible for receiving, issuing and physically moving material in an efficient and timely manner. Work Information Shift: 4th - Friday to Sunday, 5:00am-5:00pm. Starting Pay: $26.24/hr. Pay increase at 90‑day and 6‑month anniversary. Essential Functions Provides accurate and timely documentation of material and product movement to ensure the accuracy of the computer inventory system and the physical location and organization of inventory. Interprets production plans and shipping orders to provide the required levels of material handling and shipping. Completes regular cycle counts under the guidelines set by accounting to ensure accuracy in IFS. Works timely and expeditiously to deliver an on‑time product without errors. Uses various types of material handling equipment including forklifts and overhead cranes to assist in the load, unload and movement of materials and product. Other Important Details About The Role Must regularly assess and update priorities ensuring no lapse in production. Completes TPM inspection of the forklift on a daily basis. Performs other duties as directed by leaders and management. Actively participates in department safety, demonstrating excellent safety practices and behaviors which conform to all Valmont safety policies and procedures. Required Qualifications A high school diploma or equivalent. At least 1 year of experience in a heavy manufacturing environment is desired. Prior forklift and overhead crane experience. Ability to prioritize work to complete deadlines. Basic computer knowledge and an understanding of job‑related programs. Preferred Qualifications An associate’s degree in a manufacturing related field. Leads by example and earns the respect and trust of co‑workers, customers and other stakeholders. Understanding of priorities and balancing short‑term and long‑term requirements. Communicates opening and honestly in a clear and concise manner on an ongoing basis. Working Environment and Physical Efforts This position works in both indoor and outdoor locations during all seasons of the year. Safety glasses with side shields, safety shoes, and hearing protection are required to enter production areas. The job may require reaching with hands and arms, frequent use of hands and fingers at the keyboard, getting on and off heavy machinery, bending or twisting, and occasionally lifting, pulling or moving up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, and the ability to adjust focus.
