School Pupil Transportation Safety Coordinator

Job Description and Duties

Under the direction of the Lieutenant, the School Pupil Transportation Safety Coordinator (SPTSC) will be responsible for interviewing, fingerprinting and processing applicants for all school bus classes. The SPTSC will conduct both written and driving tests, issue temporary certification for original and renewal drivers in each of the following special certificate categories: School Bus, School Pupil Activity Bus (SPAB), Youth Bus, Farm Labor Vehicle, General Passenger Para Transit Vehicle (GPPV) and Vehicles for Developmentally Disabled Persons (VDDP). The SPTSC will also collect fees, issue receipts, process all paperwork, review accident reports involving regulated drivers, and coordinate activities with other CHP Areas and Allied Agencies to provide proper driver monitoring.

Working Conditions

The School Pupil Transportation Safety Coordinator (SPTSC) will work both indoors and outdoors. While indoors, the temperature and humidity are reasonably controlled, however, while outdoors the employee is exposed to climatic conditions.

The ability to work independently with little supervision. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Accurate typing and proofreading skills. General working knowledge of the Microsoft office business suite, Microsoft SharePoint, Microsoft Access database, and computer software. Excellent interpersonal skills. Knowledge and experience maintaining office files. Excellent organizational skills. Experience as an Instructor or evaluator with a diverse audience.
