About the Position

Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Surgery Center Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Days Hours per Shift: 40 Experience: Minimum 2 years of nursing experience License: Current RN License issued by the Oklahoma State Board of Nursing, or a current multistate compact RN License (eNLC) Certifications: Current Basic Life Support issued by the American Heart Association Must-Have: Excellent IV skills, instilling prescribed pupil-dilating drops, and ability to recover phase 1 PACU patients Description: Under general supervision, provides nursing care to a variety of patients with health problems ranging from simple to complex. Assumes responsibility for an assigned group of patients. Documents patient responses to nursing interventions and prescribed medical treatments. Notes all changes in physician orders for assigned patients. Assists physician in the examination of patients and in performing minor diagnostic procedures and treatment. Obtains and monitors physiological data of patients, observes physiological manifestations, and intervenes when necessary. Administers medication as prescribed. Initiates, regulates, and monitors intravenous infusions and blood products. Delivers patient care competently. Interacts with patients and families in sharing care plans while in the facility and at time of discharge. Informs patients and families of facility procedures. Makes referrals regarding patient care needs to appropriate personnel. Delegates tasks to support staff. Performs other duties as assigned. Must be able to manage airways and pain or nausea in patients aged 6 months to 95 years. Familiarity with surgical eye cases is strongly preferred. Ability to maintain a fast pace and embrace teamwork is essential. Good verbal and written communication skills are necessary. Ability to respond effectively to cultural and language needs of patients and visitors is important. Knowledge of professional nursing theory, practices, techniques, and procedures is required. Ability to organize, plan, coordinate, and evaluate nursing services is essential. Good working relationships with colleagues are important. Some computer skills are required.
