Election Assistant

Election Assistant We are looking for the ideal candidate in Milton, Florida to provide general information to the public concerning registration, deadlines, elected officials, governmental districts, terms of office, and elections. Supports voters and election processes by greeting people in office, answering phone calls, registering eligible voters, and processing registrations and changes. Assists with vote-by-mail ballot coordination with scheduling and processing of absentee ballots. Job Responsibilities Provide general election and registration information to the public (in person and by phone). Register eligible voters who request to be registered. Enter new registrations and process registration changes. Process mailed voter registrations and agency registrations. Assist the vote-by-mail ballot coordinator with scheduling and processing of absentee ballots. Maintain professionalism and proper telephone etiquette; use business English in communications. Operate computer equipment and office machines as needed to support daily operations. Work effectively with election officials, fellow employees, and the public. Demonstrate flexibility to work in either the North End Office (Milton) or South End Office (Gulf Breeze). Qualifications Ability to learn basic election law, rules, regulations, and interpret/apply statutes related to elections. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with officials, fellow employees, and the public. Strong communication skills, including speaking and hearing abilities for in-person and phone interactions. Basic knowledge of modern office practices and procedures. Demonstrated manual dexterity and ability to operate a computer keyboard. Ability to sit for extended periods and perform moderately heavy lifting up to 40 pounds. Ability to work in an office environment with noise from mechanical counting devices and computer equipment. Compensation and Benefits $15.50/hour Work 3 days a week, Mon, Wed, Fri OR Tues, Thurs, Fri; closer to election would move to 5 days a week Seasonal temporary position, ending on Nov 13 Flexible hours during election cycle, standard hours outside of election periods After meeting the qualification requirements, employees are offered through Landrum: Health, Dental, and Vision Insurance and matching 401(k).
