JOB TITLE :  Human Resources Assistant

REPORTS TO :  Human Resources Generalist

SUMMARY :              The Human Resources Assistant is responsible for providing administrative and clerical support to the Human Resources Department.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES : “Essential functions” are primarily job duties that incumbents must be able to perform unassisted or with some reasonable accommodation made by the employer.

1. Assist with all internal and external HR related matters as assigned.
2. Answering incoming calls; assisting with any HR or Benefits related questions.
3. Assist with employee record keeping.
4. Active facilitator in the pre-employment and the on-boarding process partnering with supervisors and staff to ensure appropriate documentation is obtained from newly hired employees.
5. Join the new hire orientation weekly to assist with Benefits/HR related questions.
6. Initiate and complete administrative tasks following a separation from the company.
7. Assist with management of time off and leave administration and ensure effective communication.
8. Participates in the implementation and conduct of open enrollment programs for employees.
9. Assist with benefit payments, past due reminders, and cancellations for those out on leave; collect payment information and send to Accounts Receivables.
10. Complete and approve all invoices related to benefits; send to Accounts Payable for processing.
11. Assist with the recruitment process by screening and scheduling interviews.
12. Participate in developing organizational guidelines and procedures.
13. Recommend strategies to motivate employees.
14. Assist with all internal and external HR related matters.
15. Other HR duties as assigned 

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED :

1. Excellent record keeping skills.
2. Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
3. Works comfortably under pressure and meets tight deadlines.
4. Strong computer literacy with capability in email, MS Office, and HR software.
5. Interpersonal skills necessary in order to communicate in person, by e-mail and telephone and follow instructions effectively from a diverse group of staff and auto haulers and to provide information with ordinary courtesy and tact.
6. Attention to detail and accuracy a must.
7. Ability to listen to and resolve employee complaints and concerns.
8. Ability to accurately process benefit rate changes and notification documentation.
9. Knowledge of open enrollment systems and procedures
10. Work occasionally requires a high level of mental effort and strain when performing a high volume of clerical tasks and performing other essential duties.
11. Work may require more than 40 hours per week.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to sit/stand for most of his/her job duties.  There is the need to frequently walk.  There will be a moderate amount of standing, stooping, kneeling, bending, lifting and reaching for some of his/her job duties.

Visual requirements include reading off a computer screen as well as printed materials.  A high degree of dexterity is required due to frequent use of a telephone console.

Verbal and auditory requirements include the ability to communicate clearly over the telephone as well as in person.

There is a moderate level of grasping, lifting, pushing and/or pulling of objects of less than 25 lbs.
