About the Opportunity Operates Okuma CNC Milling machines under the direction of the area supervisor or Lead Person. Location Plainville, CT - This position is 100% on site, Monday through Friday with overtime available (2nd shift: 3:30pm-12:00am). Responsibilities Performs set-ups and operates Okuma CNC mill machines and related equipment where programs, fixtures, and methods have been developed. Makes all edits and adjustments as required to produce parts to work orders/blueprint specifications/sketches. The ability to operate more than one machine in a cellular environment is required. Demonstrates a working knowledge of feeds and speeds and a working knowledge of cutting tools and their application. Inspects work for all dimensional features as required. Produces quality and quantity of work in accordance with Company requirements. Responsible for accurately completing paperwork relating to counts, scrap, time, etc according to Company policy. Performs duties always exercising good machining practices. Maintains area, equipment, and tooling in a neat, orderly condition including operator maintenance sheets. Maintains coolant tanks and fills as necessary. Assists new and less experienced operators as requested. Observes all Company policies, rules, and regulations including good housekeeping, safety and security. Required Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent 0-2 years CNC machinist experience Ability to understand and follow instructions in English. Ability to understand and interpret blueprints and sketches. Basic mechanical ability. Must be authorized to work in the U.S. on a full-time basis without sponsorship now or in the future. Must be able to perform work subject to ITAR/EAR regulations. Preferred Qualifications Experience with Okuma CNC machines and controls Experience operating in a cellular manufacturing environment Prior experience using precision measuring instruments Exposure to aerospace or tight-tolerance manufacturing environments Working Conditions Must be able to have prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer. Must be able to frequently sit, stand and walk. Must be able to lift and carry up to 15 pounds. Personal protective equipment (e.g., safety glasses and safety shoes) is required on the shop floor Occasional weekend and evening work may be required to accommodate priorities, deadlines, and schedules.
