Position Overview The University of Illinois College of Medicine Peoria seeks an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) to manage patient care within the Pediatric Endocrinology outpatient clinic under departmental medical staff privileges. The APRN provides comprehensive health care including assessment, diagnosis, treatment planning, prescribing, and participation in health professional education. Duties & Responsibilities Manage the care of patients within assigned area and/or area of expertise and within parameters of medical staff privileges. Obtain relevant patient health history; study and interpret tests and records. Perform physical exams and record findings. Perform diagnostic, preventive, and therapeutic procedures; order special screenings, developmental or laboratory tests. Prescribe or order appropriate pharmacologic and non-pharmacologic interventions and develop treatment plans. Develop educational plans for patient/family. Assist with scheduling patients for procedures and coordinate documentation. Order appropriate consultation/referrals. Determine effectiveness of treatment plan; document outcomes; reassess and modify plan. Participate in educational experiences of nursing students, medical students, residents, and other health care disciplines; serve as preceptor/mentor. Maintain faculty appointment to receive clinical privileges. Perform other related duties and participate in special projects as assigned. Minimum Qualifications Master’s Degree in Nursing or Doctorate of Nursing Practice. Graduation from an accredited APRN program. Current license as a Professional Registered Nurse and Advanced Practice. Registered Nurse in the State of Illinois. Preferred Qualifications Pediatric clinical care experience.
