Patient Account Representative
NeuroPsychiatric Hospitals is looking for a Patient Account Representative at our Phoenix location. NPH is the national leader in providing medical and neurobehavioral care to patients in acute psychiatric distress. You will be joining a team of rock star staff who provide exceptional, patient-centered care and understand our patients are always our number one priority! The Patient Account Representative will coordinate third-party billing and the application of payments for the hospital system.
The position requires extensive contact with Clinical staff, HIM staff and other Hospital personnel and frequent contact with patients and/or their representatives concerning patient accounts. Routine contact with insurance carriers, local companies, and physicians' office and periodic contact with other hospital departments and collection agencies is also necessary. Records necessary personal information, secures required signatures, prepares and supplies patient data to various hospital departments. To process and follow up on all billing, review remittance advice forms to verify proper reimbursement, and to make adjustments as necessary.

Responsibilities include performing pre-admitting activities, notifying insurance companies on daily basis of admissions, coordinating insurance billing function, performing billing clerk and cashier duties as needed, preparing weekly and monthly reports on third-party billings, checking hospital records for reimbursement information, verifying correct coding, inputting billing information, preparing and sending out paper claims, preparing itemized statements, making adjustments to hospital bills, preparing reports for the Chief Financial Officer, floating to other departments, maintaining confidentiality, displaying concern and initiative, being prompt and efficient, cooperating with nursing staff, medical staff, other departments, and visitors, seeking guidance, complying with federal and state laws, complying with hospital policies, complying with ethical behavior and standards of conduct, complying with federal and hospital requirements in the areas of protected health information and patient privacy, understanding and adhering to NPH's compliance standards, and keeping abreast of all pertinent federal, state and hospital regulations, laws and policies.
Qualifications include a high school diploma or GED, minimum of 1 year of hospital business office experience in billing and collections, familiarity with insurance verification, claims follow-up, and patient account management, goal driven, strong verbal and written communication skills, excellent organization skills and attention to detail, proven experience billing and collecting for commercial, Medicare, Medicaid and patient payers, effective claim follow up and appeals process, proficiency in MS Word and Excel, and familiarity of billing software.
